Peter popken

Peter Popken

Is a film concept artist, i found him as i was researching film concept artist. I found out that he worked on Thor for marvel and many more films that are very well known. He has also worked for Disney , Paramount and warner Bros  and many more. He has also developed his carer by working for Sony Ps3 as a game concept artists.
Peter was born in Germany and studied Graphic design. When Peter finished his education  he went in to story boarding in animation. and then moved to all different areas in the entertainment industry.
Peter explains what his role in the concept industry is to draw the story to real life and make it more visual. His focus is on storytelling and he sets the mood for the film and each sequence.
The difference on concept on film and game is film is shorter. Film can take 3 to 6 months and a game can take up to 6 years. He works on many different soft wares that's what brought my eye to his work, as I am trying the software my self.
This kind of area of Industry is what i am interested in.
I like concept art and I personally collect the books for film and games.
I like how this peice of work looks like a oil painting, this technique is created on Photoshop.

This image was the first I found of her work and I soon fell in love. I love how dark her illustration are and you can see natural talent through out her work.

What i love the most about this piece of hers is how dark it is but still a bit of light. The characters and interesting and you instantly get caught up in what happens next or what is this illustration about.

I found all her work on ...

William Simpson

William Simpson

I recently have been to event where I got to meet with William Simpson which was amazing.
I found that he had allot to say about the industry that I am interested in going in to.
He started of with drawing story boards then as he grew in the industry William went on to concept art for films and series.
William started in the industry with the company called British comics which included the comics Warrior and 2000 AD.He has since illustrated comic books for such industry heavyweights as DC comics and marvel comics.
I am very interested in Williams work and found his talk fascinating and educational and feel so lucky that I got to meet him.
What i like most about his work is that he still uses traditional methods but also modern methods. I really like his line work and you can see that he puts so much in his work which gives you so much inspiration.
I find his illustrations do the story telling by them selves with out the text which is what i find so professional and amazingly interesting.
William explained that working in the idustry is not always easy and you have to work very hard and end up when starting out using your own pocket but not to be taken as a mug at the same time.

Here is a Interveiw i found with William Simpson if you would like to read it.

Film and Game Zombies

I am looking at a Book called zombies by Russ Thorne.

Hear is a image of what the book looks like if you are wanting to get it.

From a young age i have been interested in mythical creatures from good to bad.
Hear i am looking at Zombies which is a very large part of modern pop culture.
I want to look at films and gaming in this blog as i have a huge interest in them.

The walking dead ( very popular at the moment)
I love the drawing style of the comics and fell i love with the story line.
Tony Moore is one of the team of artist who illustrate the comics.

http://www.tonymooreillustration.com/covers

Tony Moore illustrated one of my favorite covers of the comics trad paper backs. I don't now why i love this cover so much it just the cover that stands out to me the most.
Moore was Born in Kentucky. When at school he became friends with Robert Kirkman, which soon became partners with there comic book illustrations.
Their first comic book together was battle Pope in 2000.
In 2003 Kirkman and Moore created Invincible for images new superhero line. The story surrounded the adolescent son of the worlds most powerful superhero, who develops powers and starts his own superhero career.
But later on Kirkman was not meeting deadlines and was replaced by Ryan Ottley.
Later on the pair of them went to work on The walking Dead in 2003.
Kirkman also worked for marvel.
They both inspired each other through their work.

London

This week i went to London

These are a few of the images i got from the site seeing i did whilst being down which which have been a good experience personally and educational. The amount of detail in the buildings and statues are amazing and i got a idea on how i could recreate these if i was ever going to make a set of them,

I really enjoyed looking around and looking at the buildings and the detail they hold.

Harry Potter studio in London

This week i went to the makers of Harry Potter to look at the sets and costumes and props that were used for the films.
As you were waiting in the que there was bits of the set as for this one is in the first film. This is Harry Potter bed room underneath the stairs. You really do get a feel what it would of been like when you see it right in front of you

At the entrence before you step in to the magic of The makers of Harry Potter there is a short film of how the creators made the films and then the screen goes up to the sealing and then you see the main doors for the great hall.

As the doors were opening you could see the magic of the great hall all the props and costumes.

As you can see from the image they had the Christmas exhibition out when i went this time. In the great hall it was nice to see how the prop and other team made the set and how they made it work. When visiting the studio you do get a real feel on what it is like in a studio and how things work. In the great hall they had these christmas puddings that set on fire with speicel effects and they explained how that was used through out the films. As shown in the picture below.

The food that was laid on the table was made out of resin the reason behind this is because film productions carnt buy food like this if its not going to be eaten on film because of waist and money. So they make the food out of resin so they can keep re using it.

The costumes in Harry Potter were amazing and the amount of detail that went into the work even if it was only used for one shot the team would want it to be perfect, Seing the costumes of your favorite characters is just amazing and seing the amount of detail that goes into the clothing.

Whilst going to the makers of Harry Potter i got to do a work shop and had the chance to see some exclusive stuff. The most amazing thing i got to do was hold and touch Luna dress for me that was amazing to see it and touch it in real life.

Rob Bliss is a concept artist for Harry Potter i find his work really interesting and i like his style of drawing.
